Comparison is truly the thief of joy. I believe that in my soul. We all have good days, bad days & days where we may feel a mental breakdown could happen any moment. It's part of the territory I guess! I feel like some of this may stem from the unrealistic expectations of motherhood AND comparison. In my opinion, motherhood is simply this: Leading with love and doing the best we can with what we know or seek out. (therapy, a village of real mamas & utililizing resources helps).
It is proven that parenting is hard. I believe Motherhood is harder...yep, I said it. The mental load we carry as mamas is like NO other!
The reason for this blog post today is because I overheard a mama say, "I wish I had it all together like you do." This comment made me sad because I've been there and it's not a good feeling. One thing we all need to rememeber is comparison is truly the THIEF of JOY! We can not afford to let anyone or anyone else's circumstance (as we see it), negate our efforts and joys of motherhood. It's unfair to us and not biblical (fact check me but I know God doesn't want us to envy). Please, erase any negative thoughts you have about your motherhood journey based on what others are doing or what you think you should do.
You love your kids, you provide for them, you are present so YOU ARE DOING WELL! Let's not cause unnecessary stress and self-doubt. Every mother's journey is unique, and there's no one-size-fits-all approach to parenting. We should focus on our own strengths, values, and the well-being of our family. I do think it is important to align yourselves with REAL mamas who you can do life with....celebrate the wins and encourage each other through challenges. Also consider this...be open to moms doing things differently...that's when I've learned the most about why and how I parent. (Now that gentle parenting stuff has me a bit 🤔) . Supporting and learning from other moms can be very helpful; hence the The Momtivity Lounge, LLC (shameless plug).
Well, I must pour a glass of wine and eat my bedtime charcuterie with my husbae since the duo is sound asleep. Oh I love those two so much...(had to throw that in). My God I thank you for the gift of motherhood.
