My random thoughts:
What story will my legacy tell? This question is a DEEP one. Why? Because it isn't easy to deviate from what you know, how you've been raised and what you've been exposed to. It takes INTENTIONALITY. It takes daily PERSISTANCE. It takes EDUCATING yourself. It takes WORK, and lots of it. There is true power in positively influencing people well into the future.
Legacy is NOT all about what you leave your children but what you leave IN them. What do they see?
I believe this is our ultimate responsibility as Mamas....what do you think?
I believe in order for the world to change, we have to start with ourselves and then our families. Although, my life growing up was pretty darn good, there are some things that I would like to do differently or better. Why? Because I've learned so much in life and want to model the behaviors necessary for my kids to create a life full of joy, possibility, service to humanity and abundance (love, peace, security, etc.) The hope is that they will pass down these things to their own children....and lots of other stuff.
Here are some things that I pray sticks….
My career is only a means to an end. Not my life. (I do not want my kids to witness me overworked, underpaid and miserable leaving no time to enjoy life. Nope. I sure do not and won't.)
Be open to different ways of parenting. I've learned that parenting is not universal. Relationships are not either. Adjust accordingly with the best intentions always.
Multiple streams of income because they are necessary. Whether it is buying land, investing in real estate or starting that business you’ve dreamed of, JUST DO IT. Making money while you sleep is the goal.
Save. Invest. Treat yourself too.
Eat well.
Therapy is positive.
God and Family- both absolutes. Faith fuels me.
Give freely but not stupidly. (time, money, resources)
Vacations are necessary.
Hard times are necessary but temporary. Chin up and move forward.
Live humbly; things can change in a fleeting second.
Quality friendships are important
Fill your OWN cup. Don't wait for someone else to do it. ALWAYS.
Fumbling is a part of the process.
Serve others but do not over commit. (Prioritize)
Pour your knowledge into others…greed will backfire. What is for you, is for you. Inspire those around you and support.
Be yourself. Do not follow in the steps of others but create your own.
Be a good human.
We don’t do cliques. We aren’t followers. Stand boldly, no matter the crowd.
Figure out your passion and Go For It!
I want to build a life that outlives me!
